Regulation Station
When we listen through the lens of the nervous system, behavior starts to make sense.

The Nervous System
A regulated nervous system is the foundation for child behavior, communication, and learning.
The nervous system is influenced by a variety of factors, including genetics, toxins, infections, inflammation, and past physical or emotional traumas. When the system is overwhelmed, the muscles of the middle ear and the vagus nerve can lose tone.

This loss of tone affects how someone processes sound, responds to stress, and connects with others. Over time, these changes can make it harder to maintain attention, regulate emotions, communicate effectively and adapt to everyday challenges.
Dysregulation
When the nervous system is stuck in protection mode, connection and learning become harder.
In a chronic defensive state, everyday experiences can feel overwhelming. Sounds may seem too loud, routines too confusing, and relationships too demanding. Persistent stress disrupts how the brain processes information and communicates with the body.

Over time, the persistent stress can interfere with how the brain processes information and communicates with the body. Children may struggle with attention, behavior, communication, and learning - not because of willpower, but because their nervous system is prioritizing safety over engagement.
Pathways to Regulation
Multi-sensory therapies support the nervous system's natural balance and flexibility.
Our primary therapies include the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Integrated Listening System (iLs). These auditory and sensory-motor based approaches help children shift out of defensive states and strengthen neural pathways — supporting overall child behavior, communication, and learning. We also include primitive reflex integration to further support the body's natural regulatory capacity.

Our home-based programs are available to families in Charlotte, NC and nationwide.

Who I Am
I began practicing as a Speech Pathologist in 1991, focusing on the communication needs of children. Becoming a parent shifted the trajectory of my career: both my daughter and son experienced challenges with dysregulation, including sensory, emotional/behavioral, and executive function differences.

My journey to support them, combined with an ongoing curiosity about the underlying causes of these challenges, led me to Dr. Porges' Polyvagal Theory. Using this framework as a foundation, I've had the privilege of helping my children - and hundreds of families- support their sensitive and struggling kids in ways that foster regulation, connection, and resilience. This foundation now guides all the work I do to strengthen child behavior, communication, and learning.

The Regulation Station Approach
I am a certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) Provider with updated Remote Delivery Training, a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, trained in Integrated Listening System (iLs) therapy, a Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) Professional, and a certified Primitive Reflex Integration Specialist. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I integrate clinical expertise with sensory, neurobiological, and holistic approaches to support child behavior, comunication and learning

My work integrates a Polyvagal lens, neurobiology-informed practice, and Total Load Theory. This framework helps identify and address the biological, sensory, environmental, and emotional stressors that impact a child’s ability to regulate, connect, and learn—always in ways that are practical and achievable for families.
I believe that all bodies are inherently designed to heal and regulate themselves, but modern stressors can overwhelm this capacity. I partner with families to reduce stress, activate social engagement systems, and restore the body’s innate potential for regulation, resilience, and well-being. Ongoing learning including Nutrition for Mental Health and Treating Complex Trauma with Internal Family Systems, continually informs and enhances my work with children and families.

The Foundations of Safety
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) Core Program is a transformative journey designed to help children experience felt safety and strengthen connection. By gently stimulating the middle ear muscles and cranial nerves involved in social engagement, the SSP helps reset the nervous system, laying the foundation for improved behavior, communication and learning.

The program also includes rhythmic movement exercises that target primitive reflexes associated with safety and stress responses. These movements deepen the child’s capacity for regulation and connection.

The SSP is foundational, not stand-alone—it prepares the nervous system to respond more effectively to other therapies and everyday challenges. Follow-up through body-based therapeutic support, which may include movement, sensory, or relational regulation work, is essential. Repeated SSP journeys over time can further build resilience, adaptability and nervous system flexibility.

After completing the Foundations of Safety, families can choose the Vagal Toning Pathway to further strengthen emotional regulation and vagal tone.
The Vagal Toning Pathway features SSP Balance, a gentle auditory program designed to support ongoing vagus nerve toning and strengthen the nervous system’s ability to regulate. SSP Balance uses filtered music to stimulate the vagus nerve, helping the nervous system settle, recover, and stay more regulated throughout daily challenges, which supports improvements in child behavior, communication and learning.

This pathway also includes primitive reflex integration through rhythmic movement exercises, which reinforce key neurological foundations for emotional regulation, sensory processing, and adaptive behavior.
Together, these supports help children become more flexible, connected, and better able to navigate everyday stress with greater ease.

The Neurological Organization Pathway
After completing the Foundations of Safety, or as a stand-alone therapy, families can choose the Neurological Organization Pathway to support brain-body coordination, sensory processing, attention and learning.
This pathway uses the Integrated Listening System (iLs) to enhance brain and body function through music, movement, and multisensory input. iLs delivers specially processed music through air and bone conduction headphones to provide targeted sensory stimulation, while customized movement activities support coordination, balance, and overall neural organization.

Grounded in the principles of neuroplasticity, iLs helps the brain form stronger and more efficient neural connections, supporting improvements in child behavior, communication and learning, attention, emotional regulation, and sensory processing.

The Regulation Station Roadmap™
At Regulation Station, we help sensitive and struggling children improve behavior, communication, attention, sensory processing, and learning by supporting the nervous system.

The Regulation Station Roadmap™ provides a clear, step-by-step framework that combines Polyvagal Theory, Total Load Theory, and neurobiology-informed practices to guide families from assessment to lasting nervous system regulation.

In Depth Assessment
A comprehensive assessment that identifies internal, external, and relational stressors affecting your child’s nervous system. This intake process helps reveal root contributors to their challenges and clarifies the next steps forward.

Neurobiology Informed Parenting Support
We support parents of sensitive and struggling children, helping them feel more confident and grounded. When caregivers feel understood and supported, it becomes easier to view their child’s behavior through a neurobiological lens and respond with safety cues that nurture emotional resilience.

The Foundations of Health
Strengthening the body to support the brain. We address sleep, nourishment, hydration, movement, light exposure, and digestive patterns—core biological factors that influence nervous system regulation, attention, behavior, and learning readiness.

The Vagal Toning Pathway
After establishing a foundation of safety, families may choose a follow-up pathway that combines SSP Balance with reflex-integration movement. This approach further strengthens vagus nerve function and supports a more stable nervous system—making daily transitions calmer and improving emotional regulation, resilience, and behavioral flexibility.

The Foundations of Safety
As the first therapeutic step toward regulation, this phase combines the SSP Core, rhythmic movement for primitive reflex integration, and connecting activities with caregivers. Together, these tools build the safety needed for better emotional balance.

The Neurological Organization Pathway
After the Foundations of Safety, or as a stand alone therapy, families can choose a multi-sensory pathway with iLs and sensory-motor activities. Movement and sound engage neuroplasticity to strengthen neural networks for better attention, learning, sensory processing, coordination, and regulation.
